What standard do you conform to?
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA. We consider this site to conform to that standard, and where anything falls short we treat it as a defect rather than as a known limitation to be lived with.
What does that mean in practice here?
Everything is operable from a keyboard, in a visible order, with a focus ring that is never removed and a skip link as the first focusable item on every page.
Body text is at least 4.5:1 against its background and the measured ratio of every pair of colours is written into the stylesheet next to the colour it belongs to.
No information is carried by colour alone. Duration tiers use a hatch pattern and a written label; a morning that runs over the time available is marked with a heavier rule, a hatch and the word over.
The time bill is a real table with a caption and row headers, so it is read as a table rather than as a grid of loose text.
The accumulating figure on the first screen is bound to scrolling only when you have not asked for reduced motion. If you have, it renders in its final state immediately and lists every step as text, so you never have to move anything to get the total.
The two ambient video clips are decoration, are hidden from assistive technology, carry no audio track at all, and are not shown under reduced motion.
Images carry alt text that describes what is in the picture. Decorative images carry empty alt text so they are skipped rather than announced.
Do you use an accessibility overlay?
No, and we will not. Overlay widgets do not make a site conform, they interfere with the assistive technology people already use, and they have failed as a defence in litigation. Accessibility here is in the markup.
