Terms of service
What Rootine does, what you are agreeing to when you subscribe, and how any argument between us gets settled. Written as the questions people actually ask.

What exactly am I buying?
Rootine is an estimating tool. You show it a hairdressing technique — as a reference photograph or by name — and it returns the upkeep that technique generally asks for: minutes on an ordinary morning, what has to happen before you sleep, how often you are back in the chair, what becomes harder while you have it, how long the take-down takes, and what a year of all that adds up to.
That is the whole of the service. It is a subscription to a piece of software. It is not a hairdressing service, it does not book anything, it sells no products and it introduces you to nobody.
The service is operated by Authentic Styles Boutique LLC, a Florida limited liability company, and is available worldwide to anyone aged 18 or over. It is provided in English and priced in United States dollars.
What does it refuse to do?
It makes no medical or health judgement of any kind. It says nothing about hair loss, thinning, breakage or the condition of anyone's scalp, it does not address follicles or regrowth, and it will not answer a question of that sort even if you ask it directly. Anything of that kind belongs with a dermatologist or a trichologist.
It makes no judgement about whether a style suits you. It analyses no face shape and no skin tone, makes no appraisal of appearance and has no opinion about whether anything looks good.
It recommends no salon, gives no price estimate in money, and recommends no product or brand. Where the upkeep genuinely needs a category of thing — a satin or silk covering at night, for instance — the category is named and nothing else is.
It generates no image of any hairstyle. What it produces is a table and a list.
How accurate is what it tells me, and what am I not allowed to use it for?
The figures describe a technique in general. They are not an estimate for you. Your hair texture, how fast your hair grows, your stylist's hand and how practised you are all move the result and none of them is knowable from a photograph or a sentence, which is why every duration is given as a range and why the list of what the estimate cannot know is shown on every plan.
You must not use the output as a substitute for professional advice, and you must not use this service in any high-risk setting: medical, legal, financial, safety, employment, credit, housing or judicial decision-making are all outside what it is for and outside what it is fit for.
Nothing here is a guarantee that a style will take a particular amount of your time.
What does a subscription cost, and is tax included?
Free is $0 and needs no payment method. Upkeep is $8 per month or $77 per year. Chair is $25 per month or $240 per year. All prices are in United States dollars (USD).
Prices exclude tax. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies to your location. The tax, if any, is shown to you at checkout before you pay, not afterwards.
There are no promotions on this site: no discount codes, no introductory rates, no free trials of a paid plan, no referral credits and no countdowns. There are therefore no promotional terms, and nothing on this site is time-limited.
What is the monthly allowance, exactly?
Each plan carries an allowance of service units for the period it belongs to. A question about a style costs 1, reading the technique from a reference photo costs 2, and a full bill costs 5.
An allowance is permission to use the service during the month it belongs to. It is not money, it is not stored value, it is not redeemable for cash and it is not transferable. Unused allowance does not carry over into the next period.
There are no credit packs, no top-ups, no stored balance and no gift cards on this site. If an allowance runs out, the options are to wait for the reset or to move to a larger plan.
How does the subscription start, renew and end?
Before you pay, one screen shows you five things together, not folded away and not in smaller type: which plan you are buying and what is in it, the amount before tax, what will be charged today including tax, that it renews automatically and on what date and at what price, and how to cancel.
You then tick one box, on its own, which is not ticked for you. That box is your consent to the recurring charge, and there is no way to subscribe without it. We keep a record of it and quote it back to you in the confirmation email.
The subscription renews on the same date each period at the same price until you cancel. We will not change the price of a running subscription without telling you by email at least 30 days beforehand.
Every charge is followed by a receipt by email, and every receipt carries the instructions for ending the plan. On your card statement the charge appears as ROOTINE.
Once a year we send a separate email — carrying nothing else, and not mixed into anything we are promoting — telling you the subscription is running, what it costs, and how to end it.
You cancel in your own account, under Billing: Cancel subscription, then Confirm. Two clicks. There is no telephone step, no email step, no support ticket, no retention offer and nothing placed between those two clicks. Cancelling is online because subscribing was online.
How are card details handled?
This site never sees them. Card details are entered in fields belonging to the payment processor the deployment has configured, served from that processor's own systems, and they are transmitted directly to it over TLS. They are not stored on our servers, not logged and not retained by us in any form.
We store the plan you are on, the term, the renewal date, the last four digits and card brand as they are returned to us, and the receipts. That is all of it.
Traffic to this site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. Access to the systems holding subscription records is limited to the people who need it to run the service.
What happens if you get something wrong, or the service is unavailable?
We will fix what we can and refund what should not have been charged. Beyond that: to the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided as it is, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and our total liability to you for any claim arising out of this agreement is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
That limitation does not apply to fraud, to fraudulent misrepresentation, to wilful misconduct or to anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or of incidental or consequential damages, so some of the above may not apply to you, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.
If we end up in a dispute, how is it settled?
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION. IT AFFECTS HOW CLAIMS BETWEEN US ARE RESOLVED AND IT CONTAINS A WAIVER OF CLASS ACTIONS.
Except as set out below, any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or to the service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by a recognised arbitration provider under its consumer rules, rather than in court, and you and we each waive the right to participate in a class, collective or representative action.
YOU CAN OPT OUT OF THIS, AND OPTING OUT COSTS YOU NOTHING. Send an email to support@authenticstyles.shop with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms, saying that you opt out and giving the email address on your account. That is the whole procedure. Opting out has no effect on your subscription, your price, your access or anything else, and nothing about your account changes because of it.
Nothing in this section stops either of us from bringing an individual claim in a small claims court, and nothing in it stops you from reporting anything to a government agency.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Who can use this, and what about children?
You must be 18 or over to hold a subscription, and you confirm that when you sign up.
The service is not offered to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, write to support@authenticstyles.shop and it will be deleted.
Can these terms change?
Yes, and you will be told. Material changes are emailed to the address on your account at least 30 days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always says when it was last changed.
If you do not accept a change, cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means the new terms apply.
